Your task for Day 3 of the 28 Days of Abundant Practice is to set your bedtime and stick to it.  A mother of abundance needs her rest.  This is the best place to start.

You might think you need to work out how many hours sleep you need or what time you want to wake up.  The truth is that a good night’s sleep starts the night before, not the morning after.  It’s your intention that sets the tone.

There’s good reason that sleep deprivation is a form of torture – we REALLY need our rest! It’s a necessity, not a luxury.

A lot of you have been talking to me about your need for coffee, especially if you have young children who don’t sleep well – not to mention snoring husbands!  You need to accommodate for your own sleep so that you can feel better, be happier and function properly.

Imagine you had a sleep-deprived adult child – how would you advise them?  Take your own motherly advice – it’s often the best advice there is.

So, your challenge is to set your bedtime and stick to it.  Don’t forget to share your chosen bedtime on social media with the hashtag #28daysofabundance.

Top Tip:  Prepare for bed an hour before your bedtime.

You might think “Oh – I’d love a good night’s sleep!!” – front load your sleep and go to bed earlier.  This is especially important for those of you who have “little interruptions”.

I’ll be talking later in the challenge about bedtime rituals, which will help you feel that you’re not missing out on anything by going to bed on time.  You can factor in a lovely bubble bath, followed by moisturising your skin with your favourite oil or cream, slinking into freshly changed sheets with a cup of night-time or sleepy tea* and a good book.

When bedtime comes, switch off the lamp, turn over and chant (in your mind) “I am healthy, I am happy, I am loved” until you fall asleep.

Sound good?  Give it a go and let me know how you liked it below.
